Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Prerelease; Sheoldred, the Apocalypse four mana card; and more Magic news!
It’s just another Magic Monday!
I hope everyone is having a happy Memorial Day! We’re less than three weeks away from Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Prerelease on June 16th through 18th! Most of our events are about one-third full, but you can still register at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/events/calendar/.
Card previews for the set are scheduled to start tomorrow, and there promises to be lots of goodies for constructed formats like Modern as well as Commander. Are there any cards, characters, or moments you’re hoping to see in this set?
Our events for this week are Commander tomorrow, and both a March of the Machine draft and a Pauper tournament on Friday night.
Our featured single this week is Sheoldred, the Apocalypse (shown above). This powerful four mana creature has been a powerhouse since its release across multiple formats, particularly Standard. Just today, Wizards of the Coast announced the banning of three powerful cards in that format, which you can read about here.
Most of the bans are targeted at decks that heavily featured Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, so its position in Standard might be in jeopardy. On the other hand, the card will continue to be legal in other formats, so now may be the time to pick up a copy from us at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/.
