Final Fantasy is almost here! But first a special draft, an RCQ, and more!
It’s just another Magic Monday!
Final Fantasy spoiler season is upon us, and the set is jam packed full of things to excite FF fans and MTG players alike! Before we get to Final Fantasy, though we still have May to finish up.
This Friday at FNM, we’ll be hosting two events. First is our second Spring Flourishes draft! Participants earn special D&D themed promos, and you play with a special emblem that lets you draw extra cards and play extra lands! Last week’s draft was really popular, so sign up early at http://labyrinthdc.com/magic-events.
The other event on Friday is our Modern tournament. Boros Energy continues to be the deck to beat in Modern, but with Cori-Steel Cutter’s entry into the format, more and more players are turning to Izzet Prowess. How does your deck compare to the local metagame? Come out Friday to find out.
But that’s not the only Modern event we have this week! On Saturday the 24th we’re hosting a Modern Regional Championship Qualifier! This is your chance to earn cash prizes, special promo cards, and a chance to advance to the Regional Championship in either Houston or Las Vegas later this year. Right now, the field is wide open, so take your shot and sign up today!
And once the calendar flips to June, it’ll be time for Final Fantasy Prerelease! Some events are already full so be sure to register today!
As a reminder, the cost of Casual Commander Night is increasing to $10 starting June 3rd. Players will still receive a pack for participating, and registration will continue to go live at noon on the day of the event. This change is necessary to ensure that the event remains sustainable for the long term.
This week’s featured single is Tymna the Weaver. On its own, Tymna is a nice little value engine in commander; you get to draw cards in your second main phase for each opponent that were dealt combat damage this turn. But what makes Tymna special is the Partner ability. You can have two commanders in your deck if they both have Partner, which means you can mix and match to create almost endless possible decks and archetypes. This copy is the original foil printing from Commander 2016, which boosts its collectability somewhat. You can find it at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/ alongside our other MTG singles.
