It's time for store championship! Upcoming events and more!

It’s just another Magic Monday! We’ve got a weekend chock full of Magic coming up!

This Friday is July 4th. The store will be closing at 4:00pm, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on FNM this week. We’ll be running Friday “Noon” Magic starting at 12:00pm. In addition to Chocobo Racing Final Fantasy Draft, we’re also running our Standard Showdown. We’ll be handing out special Standard Showdown promos to participants.

Then on Saturday, July 5th, we’ll be hosting the Final Fantasy Store Championship! There are also great promos for participants and top finishers including Final Fantasy versions of Preordain, Death’s Shadow, and City of Brass. The field is wide open, and after today’s ban announcement, so is the metagame. So, bring your best Standard deck and join us Saturday by heading to http://labyrinthdc.com/magic-events to sign up.

On Sunday, we’re hosting a Magic Academy: Learn to Play session. We’ll be teaching Magic to new players and hopefully helping some folks fall in love with MTG. So if you know anyone curious about Magic, send them our way on Sunday at 2:00pm. There’s no registration and the event is free to attend.            

Later this month, on July 20th, we’ll be hosting another DMV Legacy League Beltway Cup Qualifier! The DMV Legacy League is a labor of love for local enthusiasts of the Legacy format. This fall they’re hosting a fantastic Invitational Tournament, and winning this BCQ is a way to win a direct entry into that event. There will also be cash prizes for the top 8 finishers. So, if you’re a fan of Legacy, come out on July 20th.

And even though it feels like we’ve just started to get the hang of Final Fantasy, it’s time to start signing up for Edge of Eternities prerelease! From what little we’ve seen of this set, it looks like the set should be out of this world! Registrations are already starting to fill, so don’t hesitate! Register now!

This week’s featured single is Vivi Ornitier, from Final Fantasy. A potent three mana card with some powerful abilities, Vivi Ornitier was already seeing play in Izzet Prowess decks in standard. With the shakeup of today’s bans, could this card be part of the next deck atop the standard meta?
