Events, a schedule reminder, and a featured single!
It’s just another Magic Monday! We’ve completed another lap of Chocobo Racing and people are loving Final Fantasy!
Chocobo Racing is a hit! And players are starting to earn their first rewards: the special foil Chocobo Art Prints. This Friday is another chance to join the fun and earn those rewards so head to our events page at https://labyrinthdc.com/magic-events and sign up today!
This Friday is also another chance to see how Final Fantasy has shaken up the Modern metagame. Boros Energy seems to be on the decline, and even our local metagame is starting to see some more rogue deck lists. So come out on Friday and try your hand at Modern.
This Sunday we are hosting Magic Presents: Pride. This is a great casual Commander event celebrating Magic’s diversity. Every possible Commander is allowed to be played as if it has Partner, meaning you can make whatever kind of combination you can think of. You’ll receive a special Chromatic Lantern Promo Card for participating, and it should be good fun. There are only a few spots left, so sign up soon!
July 4th weekend is going to be a busy one for Magic at Labyrinth. First on Friday, July 4th, we’ll be running a Friday “Noon” Magic where our draft and Standard Showdown start at noon. The next day, July 5th, will be the Final Fantasy Store Championship where the format is standard and the promos are sweet. And then on Sunday the 6th, we’re running another Magic Academy: Learn to Play. If you know someone looking to learn how to play Magic, send them our way on July 6th.
As a reminder, we are officially in Summer Camp season. This means that our play spaces will not be available before 6:00pm (except for July 4th). Plan to arrive after 6:00pm because you won’t be allowed to hang out near the campers while they’re in the space.
This week’s featured single is G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn from Commander: Final Fantasy. This commander lets you pay life to make tokens with +1/+1 counters on them every time you cast a non-creature spell. It seems like everything Final Fantasy in Magic is flying off the shelves, and single cards are no exception. (For the record, we are more than happy to buy your Final Fantasy singles as of this past Friday). This card is particularly spicy, however, because it is a borderless Surge Foil treatment of G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn. This means it is both beautiful and rare. You can find it, and our other Magic singles, at our singles website: https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/.
