Magic Monday - July 7th, 2025 - Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

A store champion, upcoming events, and a survey!

It’s just another Magic Monday! The Final Fantasy Store Championship has come and gone and everyone had a blast!

This Friday we’re back to our normal hours and our normal FNM: Final Fantasy Booster Draft and Modern. Draft has been filling up quickly each week, so be sure to register at https://labyrinthdc.com/magic-events right away.

On Saturday, we’re running a Magic Academy: Deckbuilding session. This is a great chance to learn the ins and outs of deckbuilding, with a particular focus on how to deckbuild for limited play. It works like a mini prerelease with players receiving 6 packs of Foundations to work with and our expert Magic staff will be on hand to offer advice and guidance.

On Sunday, July 20th, we’re running a Beltway Cup Qualifier! The Beltway Cup is the coveted prize for winning the DMV Legacy League’s Invitational Tournament in November, and this tournament qualifies you immediately for that Invitational. So, if you love Legacy, register today!

The final events of July are going to be the Prerelease for Edge of Eternities! Registration is already open and spots are filling up, so don’t miss your chance to be among the first to play in Magic’s first ever trip to outer space!

Attention Magic Players! We have some questions for you! We’ve put together a little survey with some things we’d like to know your thoughts on. If you have the time, please fill it out by going to https://forms.gle/1bqUHCsG65qyqDnf8.

This week’s featured single is a staple of both Legacy and Vintage which also sees some play in Commander: Chrome Mox. Any mana rock that costs zero mana to cast is capable of being a powerhouse, and Chrome Mox is no exception. This particular Mox lets you imprint a non-land, non-artifact card from your hand. From that point on Chrome Mox will tap for one mana of any of the exiled card’s colors. This is useful in all manner of archetypes including Oops All Spells, Storm, or really any deck that wants accelerate into a high-cost spell. This particular copy is from Mirrodin, which makes it an original printing, and therefore, more collectible. You can pick up Chrome Mox, and all of our other singles at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/.

In addition to our weekly Friday “Night” Magic winners, we crowned a store champion!

This past Friday Charles Boebinger, Russell Potter, and Elliott Jones earned congratulations for winning their pods in Final Fantasy Draft, while Yuki Komatsuzaki won the Standard Showdown with Dimir Aggro!

And special congratulations to Ian Bosley for winning the Store Championship for Final Fantasy with Mono-White Control!

That’s all for this week, see you next Magic Monday!
