In the dark attic of a synagogue, Rabbi Loew walks nervously. Piles of books are heaped on a desk. Gold is melting in a cauldron. And, a mass of clay is shaped into a giant human form. “Now the last step!” exclaims the Rabbi.
As the word “Truth” is engraved on the clay giant’s forehead and the word “God” is placed in its mouth, a great silence descends upon the room. The giant opens his eyes and stares at the Rabbi, waiting for his first order.
The legend of the golem is one of the most fascinating stories in the world and has roots in Jewish tradition. This is the story that inspired this strategic and complex game: Golem.
In Golem, players are scholars recreating the infamous clay automas. You must use your knowledge (represented by the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet “Aleph”) to study traditional books; collect gold and melt it to create powerful artifacts; bring golems to life and send them to the city to do important jobs; and, sometimes, kill your golems to avoid troublesome maintenance.
