Staff Recommendation

"Circle the Wagons is a 2-player-only, competitive, tile/card laying game in which 2 players compete to build the most successful boomtown in the old West. Similar to another beloved title, Sprawlopolis, in Circle the Wagons players shuffle the deck and draw three cards at random, turning their scoring condition sides face up. The rest of the cards form the titular circle from which players draft territories with which to build their boomtown. The game’s drafting has a unique twist that I really think adds a lot to the strategy of the game. In particular, the first player has their first card picked out by the second player; however, first player can either take the selected card or skip over it going clockwise around the circle until they get to their pick. Any skipped card goes to their opponent, who must then place those cards in their boomtown in the order received. The whole time, as you’re circling the wagons so to speak, you’re trying to score based on the conditions you drew at the beginning of the game. It’s another great, wallet-sized game for 2 players on the go. It plays quickly, looks nice, has a fun theme, and works as a great brain teaser.

Who is this for? Anyone looking for a great on-the-go choice or looking for a winding-down game to play with their family, friends, or partner. The strategy is also pretty solid for such a tiny game."
